This Privacy Policy explains how Get Out The Lists (“Get Out The Lists,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses information in connection with www.getoutthelists.com (the “Site”) and the services we provide to campaigns, committees, organizations, and owners of donor and email files (together, the “Services”).

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you submit a form on the Site — for example, a file valuation request — we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, email address, telephone number, organization, the approximate size of a file you own, and anything you write in a free-text field.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our analytics and advertising providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type and settings, device identifiers, referring and exit pages, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits.

Information we receive from clients and file owners

In the course of providing the Services, organizations that own donor files, email lists, or membership records may provide us with records containing personal information about their supporters and donors. We process that information on behalf of, and under instruction from, the organization that provided it. If your information reached us this way, we did not collect it directly from you. You may still ask us to remove it — see Removal Requests.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. These are small files or scripts that let us and our providers recognize a browser, remember settings, understand how the Site is used, and measure the performance of advertising.

We currently use:

• Google Analytics 4 — to understand Site traffic and usage. You can opt out across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Meta (Facebook) Pixel — to measure and, where applicable, target advertising. You can manage Meta’s use of your information in your Meta ad preferences.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site work. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where required by law. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies through the DAA WebChoices tool or the NAI opt-out.

5. How we disclose information

We may disclose information:

• To service providers who work on our behalf — for example hosting, database, email delivery, and analytics providers — under contracts limiting their use of the information
• To campaigns, committees, and organizations in connection with delivering the Services
• To advertising and analytics partners, which may constitute “selling” or “sharing” personal information under certain state privacy laws — see Your choices and rights
• In a business transaction such as a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets
• For legal reasons — to comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Get Out The Lists, our clients, or others

We do not sell information knowingly collected from individuals under 18 years of age.

You can unsubscribe from a fundraising or marketing email using the unsubscribe link in that message, or by writing to us at hello@getoutthelists.com. We will honor opt-out requests promptly and in any event within the time required by law. We may still send you messages about an active business relationship.

State privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you; a copy of it in a portable format; correction of inaccurate information; deletion of your information; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information or its use for targeted advertising. You have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, or of targeted advertising, email hello@getoutthelists.com with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share.” You may also enable the Global Privacy Control signal in your browser.

How to submit a request

Email hello@getoutthelists.com or write to us at the postal address above. So that we can find your records, please include the email address, telephone number, or mailing address you believe we hold. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will not use the information you give us for verification for any other purpose. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the word “Appeal.”

7. Removal requests

If you do not want your personal information in our systems, email hello@getoutthelists.com with the subject line “Removal Request” and include the email address, telephone number, or mailing address to be removed. You do not need to explain why, and you do not need to be a resident of any particular state.

On receiving a verified request we will remove the information from the files we control and suppress it from future sends. We keep a minimal suppression record — enough to recognize your information and keep it out — because deleting every trace would leave us unable to honor the removal going forward. Where the information came to us from a client organization, we will also notify that client of your request, but we cannot delete records held in that organization’s own systems, and you may need to contact them directly.

We may retain information where the law requires or permits it, such as to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by the type of information and the purpose for which we hold it.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Site and Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Third-party sites

The Site may link to sites we do not operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and this Policy does not apply to them.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be indicated on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
